CD Kit 1 - Improvising Tracks
(10 Tracks)
These Improvising Tracks are over
double the normal length of a backing track (6 minutes).
Long Improvising Tracks are a great asset for developing improvisation because
you need extra time to experiment with riffs, runs, scales and arpeggios.
When you consider the average song length is only three minutes long and guitar
solos seldom exceed 30 seconds in length six minutes is an excellent time
duration for improvising practice.
All tracks come with details of the key - scales - improvising advice - and
pictures of the actual chord patterns used on the recordings. This information
is in the booklet supplied as part of the CD package.
All tracks are -
In different keys to develop your scale/riff
playing.
Realistic, like the backing music of a song.
Varied to develop your sense of feel &
timing.
Each are individually excellent rhythm guitar
exercises.
Some tracks are challenging to show you not all
songs are easy to solo over.
Most tracks are from different styles to give
you an interesting selection
These tracks are tailored by Fastfingers
to work along with all styles of electric guitar playing.
Each and every track is designed for the purpose
of training, you to be able to cover all improvising situations.

CD Kit 2 - Blues Improvising Tracks
(10 Tracks)
Here is a superb selection of Blues
Improvisation tracks.
These are Digitally recorded in a top studio and all have Guitar, Bass, Drums and Keyboards ! - what's more these are long backing tracks, most of them are seven minutes long!
Track 1
- Is a standard Rock/Blues
12 bar similar to Status Quo type Blues and will help you to deal with this type
of rhythm which is very common.
Track 2
- Is a slow traditional
Blues in E, this is the most popular Blues style.
This track will help to
prepare you for many Blues improvising situations.
Track 3
- This is a minor Blues in
C. This is a typical John Mayall type of backing and will help you gain
experience in this area.
Track 4
- C7#9 Blues, again a very
traditional sound, used extensively by Jimi Hendrix the 7#9 is for me the best
sounding Blues Chords.
Track 5
- A minor Blues again
similar to John Mayall in style but a completely different feel to track 3.
A
minor is the most popular minor Blues key used by Blues artists worldwide.
Track 6
- Slow 12 Bar in A - the
most commonly used Blues track used in songs worldwide.
Track 7
- A7 Blues - this has a
completely different feel to the 12 bar Blues almost Jazzy but I can assure you
it is not Jazz just another style of traditional Blues.
Track 8
- Open E 12 bar - this is
another very popular blues track used extensively by Blues
men
and very good to play slide guitar over.
Track 9
- Rock & Roll 12 Bar
in A - totally essential to your guitar improvement/development - at last a
genuine Rock & Roll speed 12 bar in A.
This track will give you experience
dealing with the true speed of a Rock & Roll solo.
Track 10
- 12 Bar in G - Another
popular key, used by extensively by Chuck Berry the key of G.

CD Kit 3 - Blues Solo Sections
(45
Tracks)
Dear Guitarist
This CD Kit has been meticulously prepared in order to provide you with a unique
and valuable tuition aid.
The 12 bar blues progression chords are as follows -
A - D - A - E - D - A - E
Section 1 (tracks 1 - 15) covers the first A chord
Section 2 (tracks 16 - 30) covers the first D chord and the following A
Section 3 (tracks 31 - 45) covers the first E chord then D then A and finish on E
A - D - A - E - D - A - E Section 1
A - D - A - E - D - A - E Section 2
A - D - A - E - D - A - E Section 3
At first glance you may think there are 15 Blues Solos in this CD Kit, but if you start to mix the various section one Solos (first A) with the section two Solos (first D then back to A) and then mix the section three Solos (E to D and back to A finish on E) there are dozens of combinations.
The course will introduce you to the most popular riffs/techniques and from there on you will be able to develop your Blues Soloing to a higher Standard.
Finally as well as the 45 Solo tracks there are
five backing tracks on the CD.

CD Kit
(15 solos)
Rock & Roll although basic
in theoretical structure is one of the most difficult styles to perform.
There is an element of speed required to play over a fast 12 bar backing.
Because of this requirement I
have presented the solos in full format by this I mean I have not split them
into sections like I did on CD kit 3.
Within these 15 solos there is
almost every Rock & Roll riff/technique you will ever encounter.
This alone is well worth the price of this CD but apart from this:-
You will learn how Rock & Roll Solos are put together -
You will discover they are not just simply fast Blues riffs -
You will realise how difficult it can be to jump from the E position to the D position while not affecting the flow/timing of a fast Rock & Roll Solo -
You will see that most Rock & Roll Solos unlike Blues Solos are mapped out with jumps from the A to D to E positions thus giving them that unique 60's sound -
You will realise that perfect fourth type double stops (two notes played at a time - four scale notes apart from each other) only sound like Rock & Roll when played with down picking and are spoilt when easier to play down/up picking is used.
Apart from the 15 Rock & Roll Solos each Solo is followed by a 12 bar Blues Backing track for you to practice over. Also at the end of the CD there is a further six minute fast 12 bar for you to develop your Rock & Roll improvisation skills plus further backing tracks which are sectionsof the 12 bar for you to practice any particular section of a solo only.

Blues Backing Tracks 2
(10
Tracks)
For those of you who ordered CD Kit 2 Blues Improvising tracks I do not need to explain the high quality recording of these tracks. These are Digitally recorded in a top studio and all have Guitar, Bass, Drums and Keyboards ! - what's more these Blues Tracks are the long backing tracks - all are seven minutes long! - obviously you can loop them with some Cd players to play continuously.
All Fastfingers Cd kits come complete with a booklet showing chord patterns used and rhythm parts, tablature etc.
Track 1 - Is a slow Blues in the Key of C - This is a common key to develop your Blues improvisation in and is reasonably easy to solo over because it is slow.
Track 2 - Is a slow minor Blues in E. The rhythm is a typical John Mayall style and alternates from Em - D. All chords used are shown and the strumming/rhythm technique is explained.
Track 3 - This is a fast Blues in Bb. This is a difficult key to develop because you will have to trans pose all your key of A Blues riffs up one fret - this seems easy in theory but because you are now out of register with the fret markers it is difficult in reality.
Track 4 - Slow Blues in A. Although we have looked at the 12 bar & minor Blues in A this slow Blues is great to practice over because it is so laid back that you will be able to fit almost all of your riffs into the timing with ease.
Track 5 -
Slow Blues in Em. This track is in the style of Gary Moore and is superb to play
over. It is a very slow moody track embellished with a brass horn part.
The key
of E is a difficult but common key to play Blues in .
Track 6 - Another Gary Moore style of Blues this time in Gm and quite fast to play over - the key of G is reasonably easy to solo over but when the track is fast it can catch you out so you need to develop this area of your soloing.
Track 7 -
Slow Blues in E - This track is great to play over - it has a slow Jazzy feel
but because the chords are direct substitutions of dominant sevenths your Blues
riffs will fit perfectly.
(the chords are ninths - thirteenths etc - shown
in the booklet)
Track 8 - Slow Blues in D. Another important key to study because a lot of your Blues riffs will end up in the high register if you have to play in D - therefore it is a goodl key to study.
Track 9 -
12 Bar in F. The 12 bar is difficult to play in F, but soloing is even more
difficult because down at the first fret position the string bending tension is
at it's greatest.
This is also quite a lively track and so will force you to
play faster than normal .
Track 10 - Slow Blues in G - A popular key, used by extensively by Chuck Berry the key of G is the easiest key change to visualise from the key of A (down two frets) but is is actually more difficult to solo in because of the extra string tension.

CD Kit 7 - 90 Blues Riffs
(93
Tracks)
Here goes with the best Blues riff package on the market. I have recorded ninety standard Blues riffs onto one Compact disc.
Once you have gone through and
memorised these riffs it will open you up to the Blues guitarist language and
automatically you will recognise them when used by the top players like Gary
Moore, Eric Clapton, BB King etc etc.
All riffs are in the Key of A and there are three long Blues backing tracks to
practise improvising over. (93 tracks total).
All riffs have been re-recorded
in a top class recording studio and each is played at least twice (once slow and
once at normal speed.)
Here are the Backing tracks -
1. 12 bar in A (6 mins)
2. Dominant 7th Blues in A (6 mins)
3. Minor Blues in A (6 mins)
The riffs are recorded in A because this is the most popular key used by Blues Guitarists
- it is
logical to develop your Blues soloing in this key first.
As you already know the quality
of these CD's is superb and I am confident if you obtained Blues Solo Sections
from me you will have been delighted with it.

CD Kit 9
- 90 Minor Pentatonic
Riffs
(93
Tracks)
This course contains 90 of the most commonly used minor pentatonic riffs.
The minor pentatonic scale is the most frequently used scale in modern Guitar playing if you are trying to gain fast experience on lead Guitar this CD Kit is a must!
A good knowledge of standard minor pentatonic riffs will open you up to the language of the lead guitarist - when you have studied all of the standard riffs your transcribing skills improve dramatically - Why? because 95% of Lead Guitarists use either standard riffs or riffs which are constructed from standard riffs.
Once you have experienced a riff you will never forget how it sounds and you will instantly recognise it when played by someone else.
This is why an experienced guitarist can quickly transcribe a lead solo - it's simply recognition, you recognise those riffs you have previously studied, this gives you a very fast audible map of the solo you are listening to.
Sometimes I can hear a solo and
transcribe it without even picking up my Guitar - this is because the recording
Guitarist has used all standard riffs.
Apart from this, these riffs will
develop your own improvisation to a high standard, they will make your
solos sound professional and improve your speed & technical ability.
Most speed soloing by bands like Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Queen, etc etc
was these very same pentatonic riffs.
At the end of the Cd there are three six minute backing tracks for you to practice improvising over with the riffs.
1. Slow A minor 2. Slow D minor 3. Fast E minor

CD Kit 10 - Rhythm Guitar Part 1
Barre Chords & Movable Chords
(20
Tracks)
This excellent CD course is designed to give you instant experience with all types of Barre chords and is the first of a series of Rhythm guitar CD Kits so don't miss out .
You will learn all of the most common chords
required to play in a band along with tricks of the trade and strumming/damping
technique. Most guitarists are playing rhythm guitar 95% of the time when on
stage, so it is logical to gain as much knowledge as possible on the subject.
There are twenty separate Rhythm guitar studies each one is challenging and
realistic to give you expert knowledge. I have recorded a different drum track
for you to practise each exercise over -
first I explain the part in detail also you have the exact chord patterns in the
booklet provided - then I play the part over the drums - there is a separate
drum track for you to practise with!
You will also gain valuable experience with timing & feel which are both
crucial to becoming a skilled guitarist.
This CD Kit has been tried and tested with my mail order pupils and the feedback
is excellent!

CD Kit 11
- Rhythm Guitar Part 2
Power Chords
This is the second CD course
in the Rhythm guitar series - Power Chords were used in almost every classic
Rock track from the 60s - 70s & 80s.
Even if you do not like rock music a
knowledge of power chords is crucial because you will still have to transcribe
them from records whether it's for yourself or a pupil of yours.
Without a knowledge of the many various power
chords you will struggle with sheet music or chord parts because Rock guitarists
use a series of tricks-of-the-trade and chords which guitar books always seem to
leave out?
There are a total of thirty tracks each one showing you different
techniques used by guitarists like Jimmi Hendrix - Brian May - Mark Knofler -
Dave Gilmore - Jimmy Page - Brian Robertson - Paul Kossoff - Richie Blackmore -
Eric Clapton - Lemmy + the rest.
This Kit is absolutely essential to add to your
knowledge of rhythm guitar/chord work and should not be left out if you intend
to follow the Fastfingers rhythm guitar series of CD Kits - this series is
designed to train you in every aspect of rhythm guitar and chord work from basic
strumming of barre chords to Jazz chords - Blues chords & chord
substitution.

CD Kit 12
- Arpeggios & Arpeggio riffs
This kit will open your eyes -
once I had undertaken an in depth study of arpeggios I started to hear them on
all sorts of recordings from all styles and all instruments.
Arpeggios are everywhere in music - they are used extensively in all styles of
guitar playing Rock - Jazz - Jazz Rock - Blues - Country - Country Rock - Heavy
Metal.
The knowledge in this Kit is an absolute bargain, I have recorded almost every
Arpeggio pattern and riff you will ever need! - it took me 30 years to gain this knowledge
and lot's of money spent on private lessons and books.
You can have all of it for the
bargain price of this CD course - you will gain instant experience in this
area.
Most self taught Pub/Club guitarists know little about Arpeggios yet they
are crucial to becoming a well rated guitarist.
Once you have seen the possibilities with using Arpeggios I guarantee your
guitar solo writing skills will improve dramatically!

CD Kit 13 Ear Training (chords)
Everyone who plays a musical instrument should undertake ear training. Ear training will improve your transcribing abilities and make your whole perception of music clearer and more enjoyable.
This course is designed to open your ears and make you aware of what you are hearing!
There are two types of musically trained ear - absolute pitch which is sometimes called perfect pitch and relative pitch.
Absolute pitch is the ability to hear and recognise any note or chord and identify it. For example you may be listening to a song and say "oh that’s an A chord" or "that’s a G note".
Few people posses this ability because although there are story’s of individuals born with absolute pitch it is a difficult skill to acquire.
All musicians try to recognise notes by ear and discover that without absolute pitch it is a hit and miss scenario.
This course however is about relative pitch.
Relative pitch can be easily achieved with the regular drill exercises on this course.
Relative pitch is basically relating one note to another to recognise the interval and so know exactly where you are in the key (or song).
A musician with relative pitch can recognise chord types immediately such as major - minor - diminished - augmented - ninth - seventh etc.
This course will show you the fast way to developing a trained musical ear quickly without having to spend years as a practising musician in order to develop it naturally.

CD Kit 14 Ear Training (progressions)
This course is designed to be a follow-on from CD Kit 13 Ear Training (chords).
This will give you the ability to recognise chord progressions by ear, this is one of the most enviable skills you could possess as a musician.
Throughout my musical years I have been amazed at the amount of musicians who cannot recognise basic progressions by ear.
This kit will take you way above the average skill level and you will be able to identify just about any diatonic (from the same key) progression almost immediately.
I developed my ear by working with these very same drills - you as a musician need these skills more than any other skills - take my word for it if you have a good ear you will be admired by other musicians because this is the most desired skill.
This kit contains progression training development exercises + full instructions in a booklet.

CD Kit 15 String Bending
This course is designed to give you instant experience with string bending.
String bending is common in all electric guitar styles especially Rock - Heavy Metal - Blues & Country.
The sixty riffs are specially chosen to cover most of the string bending situations a guitarist will encounter when learning riffs or solos written by famous players.
Most string bending is played on the three thinnest strings and this is evident with the examples given but not all guitarists are conventional and so there’s a possibility you will come across other different string bend approaches.
The riffs are in the key of G - there are three extra long backing tracks on the CD with guitar - bass - drums - keyboards to practise the riffs over

Country Riffs
(60
Riffs + three jam tracks)
The first thing you may think
is "oh I don't like Country Music this is not for me".
Country riffs are taken from the
Major Pentatonic scale and therefore are often used over ordinary Major Key
progressions in Pop songs.
These are standard riffs Major pentatonic
riffs that you can use to create the Country sound when it is required of
you.
To become an experienced guitarist who can communicate with players from other
styles you must experience other styles in order to appreciate the skill
required for any particular style.
The course contains sixty standard Country style riffs along with a tab book and
there are three long backing tracks in different keys for you to practise

Rhythm Guitar Part 3 - Funky Chords & Shortened Chords
(25 Tracks)
This course is
designed to give you instant experience with the funky guitar style.
Funky rhythm guitar is one of the most
difficult styles to learn because of the unusual strumming & damping
patterns used.
The experience gained from this course will give you the ability
and confidence to funk-up your own guitar parts when writing songs and also you
will develop the ear to recognise when extensions have been added to chords in
order to give them the funky sound.
In the 1970's nearly all American TV music
had a funky guitar in the background usually with a 'wah wah' pedal to enhance the
sound.
If you watch Sky you will hear this on some of those old programs such as
Starsky and Hutch etc.
As well as the funky tracks there is a complete workout on using shortened chords.
Shortened chords are essential to lead guitarists because it is
considered to be un-inventive if the lead guitarist copies the rhythm guitarist
exactly.
You will discover there is a range of chords and tricks of the trade
used by lead guitarists to embellish the rhythm players work. Once you know how
it's done it will improve your skill level and experience considerably.

Understanding Harmony Lead & Harmony Vocals
This course will take you step-by-step through how to write harmony guitar solos. Once you have learned the theory of harmonising solos you will be able to embellish your own recordings with second guitar parts or show a second guitarist his/her part in order to play duel guitar solos. (Twin Lead)
You will learn all of the most popular harmonies and how to apply them, also you will gain instant experience in recognising when a harmony has been used on a recording by someone else.
As well as this you will learn how to apply this excellent knowledge to vocals enabling you to take command of the other musicians and give each of them their harmony vocal line, thus producing a three part Vocal harmony with ease.
As well as a detailed study into harmony there are tests to
prove you have learnt the harmonising theory properly and a full harmonised guitar solo
to learn.
At the end of the course there is a song containing a harmonised
guitar intro plus a harmonised solo and harmony vocals - at this point you will
fully understand how these parts were put together.

CD Kit 19 - Rhythm
Guitar Part 4 - Understanding & Using Blues Chords
This course is a thorough and
complete study on using Blues chords.
All parts are played over a backing track with many examples of chords and
techniques used when playing Blues rhythm guitar.
There is a deep coverage of this style using many approaches you will be
actually playing over the backing tracks.
The course then moves
up a level and delves into blues chord substitution giving you the theory
of how & why chord substitution works.
There are many examples to practise over the various backing tracks.
You will be absolutely amazed (without any exaggeration) when you see how many chords you can use as a substitute chord whilst playing the Blues.
This is a style of guitar playing that very few understand and it is one of the most interesting subjects I have ever studied as a guitarist.

CD Kit 20 - Transcribing from Recordings
This course is a
thorough step-by-step procedure on how to transcribe full songs from recordings.
There is a logical way (used by the top musicians) to transcribe parts and like
most skills it is a case of once you know how to do it it's easy!
When transcribing there are a set of essential
do's & don'ts - if you start off with the wrong approach you have little
chance of getting results!
There are special tests written at
the end of the course for you see how you have done - so
please don't read the answers on the back page.
These answers are purposely printed upside down so you do not accidentally
read them.

CD Kit 21 - Riffs in G Major
(62 tracks)
This CD Kit is absolutely
essential if you wish to develop your improvisation.
The riffs are all standard, this means they are the very same riffs used by top
pro guitarists and so they will quickly introduce you to the lead guitar language.
Once you have become familiar with these riffs you will recognise them on
recordings and when other players use them on stage.
This process is all part of ear
training development and is this is why experienced players can quickly
transcribe solos.
There are sixty riffs and two long backing tracks in G. - These
riffs are suitable for all levels & are are easy to transpose to the other
keys.

CD Kit 22 - Linear Runs
This CD course is a selection
of the best and most popular Lead guitar runs I have encountered over the
years.
Linear Runs means ascending up & down the fretboard.
Anyone getting to
grips with improvisation will realise this is not an easy skill to acquire.
This
is because Runs have to be logically worked out, be guitar- wise and have proper
fingering.
When you see a super fast guitarist like
Malsteem or Vai blazing up/down the fretboard, let me assure you every note and
every finger of that run has previously been worked out and well practised with
practise drills using the same or very similar runs.
After years of playing your fingers will start to land at the desired places
without as much practising. In fact good improvisers work on scales and arpeggio
drills so much that when they are improvising "things just
happen".
This means you will play something really good and be surprised you how you did
it.
These runs are not the same as the Lead runs Video.

CD Kit 23 - Open Chords
The development of Open chords
is often overlooked by pupils learning the electric guitar.
A private tuition pupil of mine failed an audition on open chords!
Obviously I had covered them in detail and he had gone on to develop into a good
Lead player.
I got him the audition because of a phone call request from a friend and was
shocked when he failed on Open chords (root chords).
"His root chords were no good" said the friend who auditioned him.
I
was disappointed that he had overlooked this important aspect but blamed myself
for not testing him.
The point is, you will be amazed how often these chords are
used and it is crucial for you to be able to play them with ease.
The twenty exercises in this course will develop your open chord playing to a
good standard and give you the confidence to know you will not be caught out!

CD Kit 24 - Blues in E Part 1
(60 Riffs + two backing tracks)
The first thing you may think
is "I can do the Blues in A so I can just move the riffs & scales to
E."
Well you will be surprised! - any good guitarist will tell you playing
the Blues in E is far more difficult than any of the other Keys.
The reason for this is because of the two extreme registers of the main Blues
scale pattern - you are either in the open position at the first fret
struggling with the open notes or alternatively you will be at the twelfth fret
position where the frets are narrower.
There are a range of riffs/techniques which are unique to the key of E - these
are covered in the course and when listening to a recording these riffs give
away the key of E instantly!
When tested all of my private pupils are surprised how difficult it is to
improvise over the Blues in E. They then realise how important it is to
become competent, because E is the second most commonly used Blues Key. (A
is the most common).

CD Kit 25 - Pull-offs
(60 Riffs + two backing tracks)
Playing multi string pull-offs is a
difficult skill to acquire.
This Kit contains almost every type of pull-off riff you will encounter in lead
guitar playing.
Apart from the fact that most of these are standard riffs, they will enhance
your improvising considerably.
Practising them will prepare you for learning many of the more difficult
standard solos recorded by the top guitarists of the 70's & 80s.
The
course starts with basic pull-off techniques then gradually expands on these to
the more technical string-to-string multi pull-offs.
A wealth of experience is contained within this Kit.

The Funky Lead Guitar style is more of an
approach than an actual style. The muted string attack and use of
syncopated (not on the beat) rhythmic timings are two features often used by the
Funky lead guitarist. As you will learn with this
course, many styles of riffs can be played with a Funky attack. One of the things to be aware of is
Funky riffs are usually short. The riffs used for this Kit are taken
from the minor pentatonic scale and the Blues scale, the two backing tracks are
in E minor and F# minor. The two jam sessions on the CD were not
worked out – I simply took the riffs in order and played them over the backing
track "live" to show you the 'staccato attack' used by the
Funky Guitarist. It is not always possible to force a
riff to 'fit' over a Funky rhythm when improvising. You will discover some
of the riffs will fit better than others depending on the type of rhythm backing
used. The best way to write any solo (not
just Funky solos) is to sing over the backing track and then find the notes on
your guitar. The material in this Kit will give you a good insight
into Funky guitar playing and as an excellent stepping stone for further
development.
CD Kit 26 - Funky Lead Guitar
(47 tracks)
Seldom are long runs played in Funky guitar solos
– instead muted repetitive riffs are used, or slightly longer riffs in short
bursts of speed.
This because your voice will home in on the correct notes from the chords and
find 'good timing'.
Most guitar solo writers use this method as opposed to joining riffs together
with a jigsaw type method.

CD Kit 27 - Blues in E Part 2 - Solos The eight solos in this Kit are
designed to give you a good insight into Blues soloing in the key of E. The main difficulty of soloing in E is,
unlike the other keys the Blues scale is scattered around the fretboard, also
there are the open strings in the lower register which form part of the scale. With the other keys you can simply move
the Blues scale and riffs up or down a few frets to play in a new key but with
the key of E this is not that easy. The solos in this kit are designed to
become progressively more difficult as you work through them. Once you have learnt the solos and can play
them as written you will have reached an 'above average
Pub/Club standard'.

CD Kit 28 Lets get technical - Part 1 (Major & Minor)
This course will give you the skills to improvise using a traditional 'Arpeggio' Jazz approach.
Most Rock & Pop songs are written in one key therefore as I have explained thoroughly in the Comprehensive Course. The scales & arpeggios relating to that particular key are the tools used for playing any solos.
Jazz however is a different game completely,
the main problem being the frequent key changes.
The best way to deal with this situation is to be equipped with an automatic
response for each and every chord type.
This may sound complicated but it is
not that difficult, most world class Jazz/Jazz Rock guitarists use this method.
One of the players who uses this method is Larry Carlton, Larry is the
number one American studio guitarist (look him up on the Internet).
There are many more world class players in this league but you will be
amazed how many top rock guitarists do not have this ability.
Here’s a little test for you to think about, if you went to an audition and the person doing the talking said "the bands going to play some chords and we want you to solo over them".
He/she then gave you some music containing extended chords and many key changes like the following example –
Gmaj7 – B9 – Fdim – C# min – Amin11 – Dmin7b5 – Eb maj7
What would you do? – Answer - like 99% of other guitarists you may think "there’s no way I can solo over that without practise, preparation and research".
This course will teach you how the Jazz players do it - you can then apply this method to any chord and you are on the road to becoming a Jazz guitarist.
